Mission

The Virginia Mediation Network (VMN) is a multicultural organization whose mission is to promote public understanding of conflict resolution services and provide its members with interdisciplinary knowledge and skills and a community to enhance their professional success.

We do this by:

  • Providing an interdisciplinary forum for the exchange of ideas and the development of solutions to all forms of dispute.
  • Enhancing the professional skills of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) practitioners by promoting educational development in conflict resolution.
  • Increasing the public understanding and acceptance of the role of ADR practitioners in dispute resolution.
  • Acting as a resource to organizations and institutions through which ADR services are provided.
  • Promoting the professional interests and skills of ADR practitioners at the local and state level.

Vision

VMN envisions a Commonwealth where people choose peaceful ways to resolve conflict assisted by alternative dispute resolution professionals who practice strong ethical values and deliver the highest quality services.

VMN is committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and vibrant community of mediators, facilitators, peace builders and other ADR practitioner from across the Commonwealth of Virginia and wishes to make mediation, facilitation, conflict coaching, restorative practices and other conflict resolution and peace building services widely and equitably available to residents and organizations of Virginia.


The Virginia Mediation Network is a 501(c)6 non-profit organization.
